Department: Trade Line Courses – Heritage College
Type: Contract (Project-Based)
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Compensation: CAD $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience and trade specialization
About Heritage College and Trade Line Courses
Heritage College is expanding into the trades and applied learning sector through its new department, Trade Line Courses — dedicated to short, hands-on training programs that combine theory with practical, real-world learning. Canada faces a growing skills shortage across multiple trade areas, with employers urgently seeking qualified, job-ready professionals. To help bridge this gap, Heritage College is developing career-focused short courses in high-demand fields such as: Carpentry, Plumbing, Flooring, Drywall, Painting, Framing, and Mechanics. We're inviting experienced trades professionals and educators to join us as Independent Contractors to develop these programs and help shape the next generation of skilled workers.
Role Overview
As a Short Course Developer (Contractor), you will design and develop short, modular trade courses that balance theoretical knowledge with hands-on training. You'll work with the Launch Manager – Trade Line Courses and academic team to create structured, outcomes-based content that meets industry standards and prepares students for direct entry into the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop short, practical courses (typically 16-40 hours ) in your trade specialty.
· Create lesson plans, learning objectives, activities, and assessments aligned with industry needs.
· Combine theoretical instruction (tools, techniques, codes, and safety) with practical exercises and demonstrations.
· Recommend materials, tools, and equipment required for in-class and hands-on sessions.
· Ensure course content reflects current workplace standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
· Collaborate with Heritage College's education team to align materials with the college's quality and delivery standards.
Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of professional experience in one or more trade areas: Carpentry, Plumbing, Flooring, Drywall, Painting, Framing, or Mechanics.
· Experience in teaching, training, or curriculum development (college, vocational, or industry setting preferred).
· Strong communication and documentation skills — ability to convert technical expertise into structured, learner-friendly content.
· Understanding of hands-on learning approaches and competency-based education.
· Commitment to promoting safety, professionalism, and employability in all materials.
Contract Details
· Type: Independent Contractor (project-based work).
· Schedule: Flexible (part-time, remote ).
· Compensation: CAD $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience and trade specialization.
· Duration: Project timelines vary depending on course complexity (typically 1–4 weeks).
Join Us
This is an exciting opportunity to share your trade expertise and help build innovative short courses that prepare Canadians for stable, rewarding careers. If you're passionate about skills training, mentorship, and practical education, we'd love to collaborate with you to bring Trade Line Courses to life.
