Position DescriptionThe Project Coordinator acts as an operational expert and resource for staff physicians, nurses, and fellows on the planning and completion of measurement projects that involve human subjects or systems in the emergency department. Working closely with the Division Head and the Research Director, the Project Coordinator will organize the process of research across multiple clinical studies and improvement projects that take place in the clinical department. This role will ensure that these academic endeavors are conducted in the most ethical and efficient manner in accordance with local and international research ethics governing bodies. In addition, the Project Coordinator will assist in the coordination of multi-site protocols sponsored by the Division through regional, provincial, or national networks.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Assist and train fellows and junior staff
- Prepare Research Ethics Board documents, and develop and design study-related data forms and consent forms
- Execute research protocols, including obtaining informed consent, administration of surveys, and data retrieval
- Data entry and database construction for clinical research
- Follow best practice with regard to research operations (research logs, quality assurance procedures, and adverse event reports)
- Lead communication efforts with all staff in the clinical department regarding active research projects to ensure optimal response rates and capture of eligible patients
- Assist and train investigators with completion of all REB and other regulatory procedures with regards to maintenance and storage of documents
- Complete site visits to regional and national collaborators to ensure execution of multi-site trials proceeds with appropriate standards of data quality and operational integrity
Here's What You'll Need
- A master's degree in a health-related field
- Several years of clinical research experience, preferably in a hospital or a university setting
- Previous experience working with quantitative (e.g. SAS) and qualitative (e.g. NVIVO) software
- Sound understanding of the research process
- Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels
- Well-developed ability to work in a team environment and independently
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
Employment Type: Part-time Temporary 1 year contract with possible extension, 0.4 FTE
