JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Program Coordinator (APC) will provide daily support for household operations and case management.
DUTIES: Assistant Program Coordinator duties include the following:
- Overseeing daily house Operations.
- Identifying maintenance issues and concerns.
- Ensuring home and yard cleanliness.
- Leading case planning and management for clients in the program.
- Providing risk relapse prevention programming.
- Support program staff.
- Modeling, encouraging, and promoting independent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Adhering to policies and procedures laid out in the Program Service Manual.
- Complete reporting and administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
- Maintain confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.
- Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons.
- Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices.
- Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Exceptional writing and case management skills.
- Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally.
- Resourceful, flexible, and well organized.
- Professional, responsive, and a positive work attitude.
- Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies.
- Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System.
QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of the following:
Education:
- Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 1 year of practical experience.
Practical Experience:
- Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.
- Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.
Other:
- First Aid, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset.
- Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver's License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.
Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.
Capability:
- Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Requires flexibility and should be able to work varying shifts.
