Senior Asphalt Paving Estimator

Position Overview

Calgary Paving Ltd. is seeking a driven, professional Asphalt Paving Sales Estimator to generate, manage, and close asphalt paving projects across Calgary and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual who is comfortable in the field, understands construction environments, and can confidently guide customers from initial inquiry through signed contract.

You will be responsible for site visits, measurements, estimating, proposal development, and closing sales for residential, commercial, and industrial asphalt paving projects.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Client Management

• Respond promptly to inbound leads (phone, email, online inquiries)
• Conduct on-site inspections and assess paving requirements
• Carry out take-offs of and complete tenders sent in by general contractors, developers and other contractors
• Educate clients on asphalt paving options, scope, and best practices
• Build trust and long-term relationships with homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients
• Follow up consistently to close approved quotes

Estimating & Quoting

• Measure asphalt areas accurately (driveways, parking lots, access roads)
• Assess base conditions, drainage, and site access
• Prepare clear, detailed, and accurate quotes aligned with Calgary Paving standards
• Coordinate with operations and management to confirm pricing, scope, and scheduling feasibility
• Ensure quotes reflect proper thickness, tonnage, and preparation requirements

Project Coordination

• Transfer approved projects to administration and project management
• Communicate job scope clearly to foremen, operations staff, general manager and owner
• Assist with pre-job clarifications and client expectations
• Maintain accurate CRM and job notes

Market Awareness

• Understand Calgary's seasonal paving constraints and timelines
• Stay informed on local competitors, pricing trends, and customer expectations
• Represent Calgary Paving professionally at all times

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• References need to be provided and will be checked
• Proven sales experience (construction or related industry preferred)
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to read site conditions and think practically
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Valid Alberta driver's license and clean driving record
• Basic math and measurement skills
• High level of organization and follow-through

Preferred

• Experience in asphalt paving, concrete, or civil construction
• Knowledge of parking lot layouts, tonnage calculations, and base prep
• Familiarity with CRM systems or estimating software
• Existing relationships with property managers or commercial clients

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
