Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight and equipment within local areas, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, utilizing various skills including commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and basic automotive repair.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to deliver freight and equipment within designated local routes
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Assist with the operation of heavy machinery and equipment during loading, unloading, or transportation processes
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to maintain vehicle functionality
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure safe transportation at all times
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and issues
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record suitable for commercial driving
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, or freight vehicles preferred
- Knowledge of automotive repair or troubleshooting skills is a plus
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism on the road
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively for timely deliveries
