We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Project Coordinator to join our dynamic Facility Services team for a one-year term. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Construction, the Construction Project Coordinator will assist in the planning, execution and completion of capital building projects, renewal project and other development projects for schools, administrative buildings and facility partner projects from inception to completion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Capital Project Managers with multiple construction projects to support the efficient, economical, and safe operation of DSBN Facilities.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including project plans and schedules, contracts, shop drawings, budget records, progress reports, meeting minutes, compliance records, quality assurance documents, communication and RFI logs and project closeout documents.
- Review architectural and engineering designs with Capital Project Managers including performing archival search of previous projects and existing on-site conditions to develop final project design.
- Ensure start-up documentation is received from contractors prior to project start (bonds, insurance, CCDC contracts).
- Maintain clear and open communication channels with project partners, including team members, clients, vendors, and consultants.
- Review and process project invoicing against Purchase Orders and Blanket Contracts.
- Ensure close-out documentation is received and processed for use by other and future DSBN requirements (consultant sign-off letters, vendor warranties, operation manuals, building permit inspections and sign-off, and as built drawings).
- Review Building Hazardous Materials Assessments and assist in obtaining approval for Site Plan Agreements and building permits.
- Support the project procurement process to ensure it aligns with Board purchasing procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures, change order management, financial reporting and tracking.
- Coordinate with school staff, operations staff, and contractors to minimize disruption to facility operations during construction and relocation of occupants prior to and after construction to facilitate project completion.
- Provide support and co-ordinate with the move co-ordinator to ensure sites are ready for construction
- Inspect construction sites for adherence to contractual project specifications and project requirements
- Provide support with final inspections, develop deficiency lists, and ensure that all issues are addressed and corrected.
- Requires wearing safety equipment (e.g., safety shoes, hard hats) when visiting construction sites
- Knowledge of project management software such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel, to create, maintain, and refine tracking tools that support reporting, risk monitoring, procurement coordination, and project oversight.
- Perform additional duties as required to support project and organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 3-year diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural or Construction Technology or equivalent proven experience in the construction industry.
- A valid driver's license.
Position Details:
Contract Term: This is a temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) position lasting approximately 12 months.The successful candidate is required to work in person at the Education Centre located in St. Catharines, Ontario and travel to DSBN facilities throughout the Niagara Region.
Salary:$43.42 per hour, inclusive of Vacation and Statutory Holiday Pay.
