About Cowichan Women Against Violence Society

Cowichan Women Against Violence Society is a nonprofit organization that provides a range of services for women, children, youth, and families in the Cowichan Valley who have experienced or are at risk of violence. CWAVS works from a feminist, trauma informed, anti oppressive, and decolonizing framework. Our approach emphasizes safety, dignity, connection, cultural humility, and reliable service delivery across programs.

CWAVS provides emergency sheltering, second stage housing, counselling, victim services, homelessness prevention supports, and child and youth advocacy programs. The Society values collaborative practice, strong community partnerships, and approaches that support equitable access to services for those who rely on CWAVS programming. CWAVS also engages in ongoing efforts toward Indigenization and reconciliation across the organization, including relationship building with Indigenous communities and supporting culturally respectful service environments.

About Raven's Nest Child and Youth Advocacy Centre

Raven's Nest is a CWAVS program and part of the provincial and national Child and Youth Advocacy Centre network. CYACs bring together police, child protection, victim services, health, and community partners to provide a coordinated response when concerns of violence or exploitation arise.

The CYAC model focuses on reducing repeated interviews, improving information sharing within legislated limits, and ensuring that children, youth, and caregivers access services in a single, child and youth centered setting. Raven's Nest works with Indigenous Nations, Elders, and Indigenous led organizations to support culturally respectful and accessible services.

Why Join CWAVS

Joining CWAVS means contributing to a coordinated response that helps children, youth, and caregivers navigate important processes with clear information and consistent support.
