Support Services Facilitator- Owl Learning Hub, Day Supports and Services

Fulltime position- 12-month contract

The Support Services Facilitator is responsible for providing person-centered support to adults with developmental disabilities in a dynamic, community-focused support model. This role emphasizes social recreation and leisure, life skills development, and vocational skills training within our Social Enterprise. The Support Worker promotes independence, inclusion, and participation in daily activities while maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Recreation & Leisure Support

· Plan, facilitate, and participate in engaging on-site and community recreation activities that promote social interaction and personal enjoyment.

· Support individuals in accessing community resources such as recreation centers, libraries, volunteer opportunities, and public transportation.

· Support individuals in exploring hobbies, interests, and leisure opportunities that build confidence and community involvement.

· Promote safe and meaningful participation in community activities and experiences.

· Encourage positive peer relationships and demonstrate positive social interactions.

Life Skills Development

  • Provide support and coaching in daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, communication, transportation and community resources.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles and support independence.
  • Reinforce decision-making, problem-solving, and self-advocacy in day-to-day situations.

Vocational Skills Development

  • Support individuals as they engage in vocational skills development within our Social Enterprise, including customer service, product preparation, packaging, and other operational tasks.
  • Model and reinforce professional workplace behaviors such as punctuality, teamwork, communication, and task completion.
  • Adapt tasks to individual abilities while maintaining meaningful contributions to Social Enterprise operations.
  • Promote skill - building that enables participants to engage in volunteer roles, pursue employment, and increase personal independence.

Individualized Support & Planning

  • Implement Individual Support Plans and contribute to goal development and ongoing progress reviews.
  • Document daily notes, progress, and incident reports as required.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, team members, and external professionals to ensure person-centered support.

Health, Safety & Professional Conduct

  • Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and risk management protocols.
  • Assist with personal care as needed (if applicable to participants supported).
  • Implement behavioral or crisis prevention strategies as outlined in support plans.
  • Administer medication according to agency policy (if required).

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with team members to develop engaging activities and improve service delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings, training opportunities, and program development initiatives.

Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a diploma or degree in a social services field, such as DSW, CYW, SSW, Psychology, Sociology, or other related studies.

· The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 1-2 years recent and relevant experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Current First Aid & CPR and C.P.I certification. Vulnerable Sector Check. Bilingualism is an asset.

Knowledge & Skills:

· Knowledge of various disabilities

· Solid communication skills both verbal and written.

· Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team.

· Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and sound judgment.

· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Transportation/Travel: A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2

Job Type: Full-time, 12 month-contract position with the possibility of extension, 37.5 hrs per week. Salary $27.79 per hour. Mon to Fri but maybe required to work evenings dependent on client or program needs. Benefits include Dental Care, extended health care, life insurance, paid time off.
