Clark Builders is looking for an enthusiastic Project Coordinator Co-op Student to assist with the Red Deer Regional Hospital Project. This landmark megaproject is the largest in the history of Clark Builders and the largest single investment in Healthcare by the Government of Alberta. It will run from August 2024 to April 2032, and it involves the construction of a new 200 bed inpatient tower and extensive renovations to the existing Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. All construction activities will adhere to LEED Silver sustainability standards, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally responsible building practices.

The student role will support the Project Manager(s) and Superintendent(s) in all aspects of the construction process including monitoring project plans, schedules, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner. This will be an 8 or 12-month work term based in Red Deer starting May 2026.

Reports to: Project Manager(s) and/or Superintendent(s)

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supporting in project startups with responsibilities including but not limited to, tendering and bid evaluations, subcontract kickoff, utilities and site services applications, permitting, stakeholder communication, quantity take-offs, and managing project schedule.

· Project execution and document control responsibilities including Request for Information (RFI), Site Instructions (SI), Submittals, Change Requests (CRX), Change Orders (CO)

· Maintain the integrity of the QA/QC plan

· Facilitate, record and compile meeting minutes; follow up on action items

· Monitor and Coordinate Trade scopes of work including tracking productivity and performance

· Assist with on-site problem solving and RFI process

· Project accounting basics

· Adhere to Clark Builders' policies and procedures and aid others in compliance

· Support and grow ongoing trade partner and client relationships

Skills and Knowledge:

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

· Analytical thinker with ability to interpret complex information and recommend innovative solutions

· Enjoys working in a team environment, performing deadline-driven tasks to resolve project challenges of varying complexity

· Understanding the principles of Lean thinking, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement

· The ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications

 Qualifications:

· Pursuing a Bachelors' degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering

· Experience working as a Project Coordinator for a Commercial, Industrial, or Institutional Construction organization previously is an asset

· Experience working in a Field or Site based role is an asset

· Experience with Procore is an asset

· Experience with Last Planner System is an asset

· Experience with collaborative pull planning is an asset

· Experience with various types of construction contracts is an asset
