You will focus on the people side of change – including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures. Your primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. You will work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization and greater proficiency of the changes that impact employees in the organization to increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes.

A typical day for the Change Management Consultant

  • Conduct an Organization Change Management and develop an OCM strategy.
  • Initiate, plan, develop, and implement change management programs that enhance the overall effectiveness of all employees and support the organization's transition from the present to the desired future state.
  • Collaborate with APS Leaders in the management and direction of change initiatives in these areas.
  • Identify proposed changes and management of change (MOC) processes and how the business will be affected so they can be managed with minimal to no impact.
  • Conduct a thorough MOC risk assessment to identify and evaluate potential risks associated with the proposed change. Analyze the risks to determine the best mitigation strategies.
  • Execute and monitor change. As the changes are implemented, management needs to continually monitor employee risks.
  • Develop subject matter experts across the organization who will create content and deliver change management and process improvement education on an as-needed basis.
  • Support leadership in utilizing change management best practices and approaches needed to implement projects and initiatives successfully.
  • Analyze problems or issues in a systematic way to identify underlying causes for change resistance.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of the OCM activities.

What you bring

  • A degree in a related field.
  • Change management certification or designation desired.
  • A minimum of three to five years direct experience being part of a change management, and communications initiatives within large organizations.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Kanban model, and Agile certification would be considered a strong asset.
  • A demonstrated track record (minimum 5 years) of successfully leading the planning and execution of strategic change efforts in support of organizational and cultural change.
  • Experience creating and delivering change management activities within a project structure.
  • Solid understanding of project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
