Job Description

Under the general supervision of the WorkBC Senior Operations Manager, the Job Developer is responsible for working closely with job seekers to support them in securing and retaining employment and connecting them with employers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with job seekers to determine their individual needs and skills to market to employers in the labour market

  • Developing employment opportunities for candidates by implementing effective marketing strategies

  • Coaching participants in job search strategies

  • Keeping abreast of labour market trends and job opportunities

  • Facilitating and monitoring WorkBC Wage Subsidy Work Experience Placements

  • Maintaining rapport with Clients pre/post job placement to ensure candidates

  • receive appropriate support to maintain employment

  • Maintaining accurate and up to date notes in the Integrated Case Management system

  • Liaising with employers to organize hiring events

  • Acting as a champion of the program, promoting our services throughout community and networking events

  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • 2 years of job development, career coaching, or job placement experience in a related setting

  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Career Development Practitioner certification is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to build lasting professional relationships with job seekers and employers

  • Familiarity with the WorkBC model and the Integrated Case Management system is an asset

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the city. Must be available normal working hours Monday – Friday with the ability to work the occasional evenings and weekends

  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
