This position is anticipated to extend from April 1, 2026 to October 2, 2026, subject to availability of work and funding.Reporting to the Program Manager, the Public Health Inspector (PHI) provides public health inspection services to communities, institutions, and individuals throughout the life cycle for the purposes of promotion of health, prevention of illness and injury, and control of infectious diseases.PHIs are actively involved in the delivery of the following Health Protection Programs: Control of Infectious Diseases, Food Safety, Safe Water, Rabies Prevention and Control, Infection Control, Vector Borne Diseases, Climate Change, Personal Services Settings, Risk Assessment and Inspection of Facilities and Health Hazard Management and Prevention. Responsibilities include inspection and enforcement of applicable sections of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and its regulations and protocols, the Ontario Public Health Standards, and associated Protocols as well as this agency's internal policies and procedures, all of which are amended from time to time. Offered enrollment in the OMERS pension plan (if enrolled, in lieu benefits will reduce). A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate.
