About the Role
As our Human Resources Lead, you'll be the go-to person for all things HR—driving recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy development, and health and safety programs. You'll work closely with leadership to ensure compliance, foster a positive workplace culture, and champion initiatives that align with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with WestGen's mission and objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor to management on HR matters, organizational development, and change management
- Oversee succession planning to build a strong, sustainable workforce
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead recruitment, post job ads, and conduct screening calls
- Coordinate interviews, reference checks, and prepare employment contracts
- Manage onboarding emails, training, and BambooHR setup
- Perform 30-60-day check-ins and remind managers about 90-day reviews
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Foster a positive culture and manage employee relations
- Respond to inquiries and escalate complex issues to the HR Consultant
Performance Management
- Drive performance reviews and professional development programs
- Maintain review schedules and documentation
Training, Policy & Compliance
- Support managers in staff growth and learning opportunities
- Organize and track company-required training
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain HR policies
HR Systems & Reporting
- Administer BambooHR and maintain accurate records
- Manage time-off policies, vacation balances, and employment updates
Compensation, Payroll & Benefits
- Support payroll processing and benefits administration
- Manage salary structures and pension matching program
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (CPHR designation is an asset)
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
- Proven ability to lead HR initiatives and influence at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- High level of confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data-driven HR reporting is an asset
- Ability to manage change and support a growing, evolving organization
Working Conditions
