About the Role

As our Human Resources Lead, you'll be the go-to person for all things HR—driving recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy development, and health and safety programs. You'll work closely with leadership to ensure compliance, foster a positive workplace culture, and champion initiatives that align with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with WestGen's mission and objectives
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management on HR matters, organizational development, and change management
  • Oversee succession planning to build a strong, sustainable workforce

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Lead recruitment, post job ads, and conduct screening calls
  • Coordinate interviews, reference checks, and prepare employment contracts
  • Manage onboarding emails, training, and BambooHR setup
  • Perform 30-60-day check-ins and remind managers about 90-day reviews

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a positive culture and manage employee relations
  • Respond to inquiries and escalate complex issues to the HR Consultant

Performance Management

  • Drive performance reviews and professional development programs
  • Maintain review schedules and documentation

Training, Policy & Compliance

  • Support managers in staff growth and learning opportunities
  • Organize and track company-required training
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain HR policies

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Administer BambooHR and maintain accurate records
  • Manage time-off policies, vacation balances, and employment updates

Compensation, Payroll & Benefits

  • Support payroll processing and benefits administration
  • Manage salary structures and pension matching program

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (CPHR designation is an asset)
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Proven ability to lead HR initiatives and influence at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data-driven HR reporting is an asset
  • Ability to manage change and support a growing, evolving organization

Working Conditions
