A typical day for the Senior Strategic Business Analyst

  • Under direction of the Director, Strategy and Planning, accountable for corporate strategic/business planning, development of recommendations, presentations and other material for senior audiences to support division direction and report KPIs and key outcomes.

Business Plan Management

  • Provide leadership of the Corporate three-year business plan / roadmap as well as work with key stakeholders in the financial planning associated with the plan.
  •  Identify high level resource requirements, including people, hardware, software, funds to ensure delivery timely service.
  • Oversee and lead reporting to ensure projects and work assignments are completed on strategic initiatives and create reporting for the APS executive and board.
  • Identify strategic priorities and create a backlog of shovel ready projects that can be implemented in subsequent budget cycles, ensuring these initiatives meet strategic priorities.
  • Ensure approved projects are reflected in the client Service delivery plans annually.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on performance metrics.

Development

  • Ensure approved projects are reflected in the client Service delivery plans annually.
  • • Work with key leaders and others throughout the organization to foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, growth and improvement for the area.
  • Provide leadership and advance operational excellence and customer centric service.
  • Contribute and provide leadership to the Strategy and planning team on all deliverable and business planning.
  • Lead projects related to program assignments, making required recommendations and decisions to achieve the targeted outcomes.

Emerging Risks, Opportunities, and Directions

  • Oversee several strategic activities on behalf of the Director, Strategy and Planning. The activities include, but are not limited to, understanding client strategic priorities, legislative changes and industry best practice.

What you bring

  • University degree or diploma with 5 or more years of progressive experience in strategic planning, business process improvement or project/change management
  • Ability to manage concurrent and complex work assignments.
  • Strong leadership and advanced communication skills, adept at public speaking, presentation and facilitation.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues in confidence, and to deal appropriately with senior levels of management.
  • Visualizes, anticipates, and plans for possible future scenarios and business needs.
  • Drives the development and enhancement of product or services, based on stakeholder needs.
  • Measures and evaluates delivery to determine future needs of current and potential customers.
  • Prior experience in resource planning, estimation and budgeting, demonstrates excellent time management.
  • Experience maintaining effective relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders.
