Your OpportunityWe are in pursuit of an experienced HR Business Partner to join our passionate, collaborative, and results-driven team. In this role, you will partner with senior leaders supporting corporate teams across Canada and the United States.
You will be a trusted advisor, strategist, consultant, analyst, change agent and coach. The successful individual will also sit alongside and collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that support people and organizational needs in addition to facilitating the deployment of our HR Strategic Plan. Everyday, you will engage in business conversations, influence, and equip people leaders to lead their teams and foster a highly engaged workplace.

Your Key Responsibilities Strategy & Partnership- Develop and maintain a trusted advisor relationship with client groups, including employees, managers, and senior leaders, along with our HR colleagues by presenting multiple perspectives and challenging the status quo.
- Proactively partner with clients to identify strategic issues, workforce planning or organizational design challenges and provide advice and expertise to help develop creative solutions rooted in HR best practices.
- Provide counsel that upholds Stantec's culture, vision, and values and safeguards Stantec and its team members.
- Collaborate with partners across our HR Talent Services team to harness the collective knowledge and work of our expert teams.
- Guide leaders in constructive ways to model behavior to drive engagement and retention of top talent and develop a high performing team.
- Collaborate within a geographically dispersed team to communicate, facilitate, and/or present HR programs and initiatives to client groups.
- Establish and maintain credibility through a robust understanding of the business strategy, competitors and peer firms, and HR best practices.
- Manage all annual and evergreen HR activities spanning employee engagement, retention and talent development, succession planning, change, conflict and exit management, employment legislation, employee relations, performance management, investigations, job evaluation, compensation management, internal communication, coaching, data analytics, workforce planning, policy interpretation, career coaching, facilitation to positively impact Stantec's culture.
- Lead and report on workforce management activities including recruitment, retention, and workforce balance.
- Participate in identifying and implementing people-related strategic initiatives.
- Partner with leaders to ensure alignment to our compensation philosophy.
- Manage the rollout and results for talent management strategies.
- Drive engagement & culture initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Participate in organizational design efforts to optimize structure, succession, and efficiency.
- Serve as a workforce champion and promote a positive work environment and employee experience.
- Influence excellence and results across all HR programs through effective and easy programs and strategies.
- Foster a continuous improvement mindset and continually look for opportunities to increase the return on investment of human resources programs for employees and leaders.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven influencer and collaborator, with the ability to provide guidance and support to business clients from employee to senior leaders.
- Developed skills in coaching managers, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management.
- Prior experience partnering and providing HR support to corporate functions preferred.
- Valued for your agility and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and having a focus for action-orientation on results.
- Respected for balancing strategic and operational tasks with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Noted for your ability to identify and anticipate strategic and operational business and human capital challenges, then providing and executing innovative solutions with attention to critical details.
- Distinguished as a business partner who learns the business and takes an active interest in continually enhancing your business acumen.
- Regarded as an exceptional communicator and able to influence a broad and diverse range of stakeholders through effective relationships, verbal, and written communication.
- Valued as a consummate professional, exercising confidentiality, discretion, sound judgment as well as possessing critical thinking in ambiguous situations.
- Recognized for your learning mindset, initiative, and ability to understand the business and challenges, and new and innovative approaches that result in improvements in team engagement, productivity and organizational performance.
- Distinguished for an interest in continual personal development and keeping current in human resource best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of core HR competencies.
- Adaptability to rapidly changing demands.
- Prior experience successfully operating within a matrix global organization and within a geographically dispersed team is an asset.
- Ability to travel to other Stantec offices as needed.
- Strong MS Office Suite skills preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of related HR business partner experience.
- HR certification preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
