Our client is looking for an Interim Director of Accounting and Reporting. The role will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of financial reporting within the insurance division. You will ensure timely and accurate delivery of external financial statements, assist with reporting requirements, and act as a trusted advisor to senior finance leadership.

This role requires a technically strong CPA who can both lead and execute – someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and managing complex reporting deliverables while also driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with evolving accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of external financial reporting in accordance with IFRS standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of consolidation packages to the Corporate Finance team.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise related to IFRS 17 and its impact on insurance operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and disclosure requirements.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain robust financial controls and reporting processes.
  • Analyze financial results, highlight key trends, and prepare insightful commentary for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
  • Support the preparation of materials for audit reviews, regulatory submissions, and executive presentations.
  • Stay current with updates to accounting standards and assess their potential impact on the organization's reporting framework.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) required.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, with direct exposure to insurance or financial services industries strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience working with IFRS 17 and/or other complex accounting standards.
  • Strong background in external reporting and consolidation processes under IFRS.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands-on capacities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel), and familiarity with large ERP or consolidation systems.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, managing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
