The Position:

The Customs & Logistics Coordinator role is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the movement of products to ensure supplies, materials and finished goods are shipped and received on schedule in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role serves as an internal resource on international trade, customs compliance, and logistics best practices.

The coordinator prepares and processes all customs documents for both International & U.S. shipments and assigns Harmonized System (HS) Codes while determining applicable duties and tariffs. This position requires strong analytical skills, adaptability and the ability to develop efficient processes to support a resilient supply chain. Responsibilities:

· Research and plan optimal routes considering factors such as fragility, size, cost, transit time, security, destination and required delivery dates.

· Assign Harmonized System (HS) codes to products and determine applicable duties and tariffs based on destination country regulations and product classification

· Prepare accurate and complete shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, customs declarations, and other required paperwork

· Ensure compliance with all customs documentation and trade regulations, maintaining current knowledge of legislation and tariff schedules that affect Valid's supply chain

· Serve as an internal resource on international trade, customs compliance, and logistics best practices

· Negotiate with shipping and logistics vendors to ensure the cost effectiveness of shipments

· Resolve damage claims with vendors and ensure all necessary follow-up is completed

· Liaise with third parties to move goods in accordance with customer or supplier requirements

· Work closely with customers, suppliers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth delivery operations to deadlines

Skills & Abilities:

· Demonstrates a strong customer-service mindset with the ability of remain calm, professional, and tactful in a high-pressure or time-sensitive situations

· Must be organized and have good time management skills

· Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products

· High attention to detail with the ability to provide consistent, quality service to both internal stakeholder and external customers.

· Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously

Requirements:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics, including knowledge of export regulations, procedures, and related documentation

o Experience preparing commercial invoices and related customs documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.

o Experience obtaining necessary permits for shipments, including oversized or special loads, as required by jurisdictional authorities.

· Preference will be given to candidates who possess a certificate or diploma in a related field. Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), equivalent certification, or current enrollment in a relevant Customs, Shipping, or Brokerage program with applicable experience is preferred.

· Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
