Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

You will perform different forms of credit-based analysis on business/ commercial accounts, with an emphasis on financial statement analysis on commercial merchants generating large credit exposure. To be successful in the role, you will be well-versed in commercial credit adjudication, credit assessments, and financial statement analysis.

Location: You will work from our Toronto office in a hybrid work model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Credit - Commercial.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do
  • Adjudicate existing or net new merchants and approve or decline applications within assigned levels of authority.

  • Participate in the ongoing credit risk assessment of a portfolio of Commercial Merchants (large revenue/market share managed accounts), including periodic reviews and recommendations for the increase or decrease of collateral.

  • Manage individual portfolio – periodic review, collateral updates, contract reviews, compliance reporting, etc.

  • Conduct negotiation with Commercial Merchant senior executives (CEO, CFO, VP's, Directors) relating to credit decisions.

  • Perform business analysis in the form of financial statement analysis, review of accounting policy affecting the financials, industry analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Provide ongoing education and support to Sales, Operations, and Marketing concerning Credit Policies and Procedures.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.

  • Pursuing a post-graduate degree or professional certifications like MBA, CFA, or CPA (a PLUS)

  • Must be fluent in French and English

  • 3+ years of experience in credit adjudication, including business/commercial adjudication.

  • Experience analyzing business financial statement is required for the role.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, as well as negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel (Intermediate to advanced).

Vos responsabilités – Votre carrière à Moneris

  • Approuver de nouveaux propriétaires de commerce ou des propriétaires existants et approuver ou refuser les demandes dans le cadre des niveaux d'autorité attribués.

  • Participer à l'évaluation continue du risque de crédit d'un portefeuille de propriétaires de commerce (comptes gérés à revenus importants/à part de marché importante), y compris les examens périodiques et les recommandations pour l'augmentation ou la diminution des garanties.

  • Gérer le portefeuille individuel – examen périodique, mises à jour des garanties, examen des contrats, rapports de conformité, etc.

  • Mener des négociations avec les cadres supérieurs des propriétaires de commerce (PDG, cheffe ou chef des finances, vice-présidentes et vice-présidents, administratrices ou administrateurs) concernant les décisions de crédit.

  • Effectuer une analyse commerciale sous la forme d'une analyse des états financiers, d'un examen de la méthode comptable touchant les états financiers, d'une analyse du secteur et d'une modélisation financière.

  • Assurer une formation et un soutien continus aux services des ventes, des opérations et de marketing en ce qui concerne les politiques et les procédures de crédit.

Votre profil – Votre carrière à Moneris

  • Baccalauréat en affaires, en finances, en économie ou dans un domaine connexe.

  • Poursuivre des études supérieures ou obtenir des certifications professionnelles telles que MBA, CFA ou CPA.

  • Maîtrise du français et de l'anglais

  • 5 ans ou plus d'expérience dans l'approbation de crédit, y compris l'approbation de crédit d'affaires/commercial.

  • Une expérience de l'analyse des états financiers des entreprises est requise pour ce poste.

  • Solides compétences en matière de communication interpersonnelle, écrite et verbale, ainsi qu'en négociation.

  • Maîtrise des applications MS Office, en particulier d'Excel (niveau intermédiaire à avancé).
