Job Overview

As an Overnight Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Your dedication and compassionate care will support individuals in their daily activities, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and valued during the night hours. You will be instrumental in providing assistance with personal care, medication administration, and emotional support while fostering a positive environment for those with diverse needs.

What you'll do

  • Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor vital signs to ensure residents' health and safety.
  • Engage residents in meaningful conversations and activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
  • Support individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, and memory care needs through tailored approaches.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of living spaces to create a welcoming environment.
  • Document resident care accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other caregivers to develop personalized care plans that meet each resident's unique needs.
  • Assist with meal preparation and dietary needs while ensuring compliance with any specific dietary restrictions.

Basic qualifications

  • Certification as a Personal Support Worker or equivalent training in caregiving or social work.
  • Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is preferred.

Preferred qualifications

  • First aid certification and knowledge of vital signs monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Hoyer lifts for mobility assistance.
  • Experience in long-term care settings or home & community care environments is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage behaviors compassionately and effectively.
