Nero Waffles is an independent, locally owned family business that started with a tiny waffle shop on Robson Street in 2012. It has since then expanded with a larger location on Seymour street and our third location on South-Granville. Nero Waffles focuses on authentic Belgian waffles for breakfast, brunch and dessert using local and fresh ingredients. The Role

Our Seymour location is our busiest location and is considered the flagship location of Nero Waffles. It has full table service and a full menu going from breakfast, brunch to dessert; coffees and cocktails.

Servers fulfil a crucial role at Nero as they are in the front line interacting with customers. A server guides their customers from A to Z in their experience at Nero. From greeting to door management, to arranging seating, waitlist management, menu recommendations, delivering food and drinks to tables, checking in with customers, settling up, clearing tables and setting them up for the next guests. Servers are involved with every step of customer interaction. As a server you will have 1 hosting shift on average per week, in rotation with all the other servers.

We anticipate your schedule will consist of 3 to 4 shifts weekly (possibility to have 5 days), with mainly evening shifts. Nero is open daily from 8am to 10pm (11pm on Friday and Saturday). Being available to work every weekend is very important.

Servers report to their supervisors (Head Servers) and directly to the owners. Servers are paid an hourly pay of $17.85 and have the opportunity to earn great tips. When working hosting shifts, the pay is $18.25 per hour plus a small tip share from the serving team.

Specific Responsibilities:

EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE GUEST EXPERIENCE

• Greets customers at the door and explains them how we operated
• Manages the flow of customers that come to the door. Guides customers for take out and explains waiting customers what the process of waiting for tables is.
• Manages the wait list system and communicates clearly with guests about this
• Guides customers to their table
• Gives menu recommendations and explains our products in detail
• Brings food and drinks to tables in a timely manner
• Follows up with guests about their experience. Checks in on tables regularly to ensure guests have everything they need
• Efficiently settles up the bill with guests
• Clears and cleans tables
• Sets up clean tables for the next guests

UPHOLDING EXCELLENCE IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE STANDARDS

• Ensures food and beverage that go out to tables meet our standards in plating, temperature and dietary requirements
• Checks in with guests and corrects any dissatisfaction in food or drinks
• Reads and studies our seasonal Menu Book in order to be up to date with all necessary product knowledge

SIDE WORK

• Performs opening and closing duties when scheduled accordingly
• Cleans and polishes cutlery, prepares cutlery sets to be used on the table setup
• Washes water bottles to be filled with clean fresh water for the next guest
• Works in partnership with GM to control food/beverage and other direct BOH costs to goals set by Owner and to create efficiencies where possible in management of the kitchen.

CLEANLINESS AND ORGANIZATION

• Completes daily cleaning lists
• Does hourly washroom checks to ensure cleanliness and stocks up supplies
• Keeps the restaurant clean during service by wiping surfaces and doors, sweeping floors and cleaning up any spills

RESTAURANT HEALTH & SAFETY

• Exemplifies and upholds Company Policies and Procedures, Vancouver Coastal Health Food Safety regulations, WCB Health and Safety regulations and BC Employment Standards at all times. This includes upholding and enforcing Nero's policy of zero-tolerance for bullying and harassment between any employees and those who work with Nero. Maintains employee confidentiality at all times.

Credentials and/or Experience Requirements

• Eligibility to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, Work Permit holder)
• Serving it Right
• Food Safe Level 1 (optional)
• Minimum 2 years experience as a server in a high volume fast paced restaurant.
• Experience in using POS Systems
