Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced 5-Ton Truck Driver to join our cartage team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating medium-duty trucks to deliver freight and materials across the Greater Ottawa region. This role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service, with opportunities to work with various types of commodities and freight. The position offers full-time employment with paid hours and is essential for maintaining timely deliveries and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate 5-ton trucks equipped ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, lift gates, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs, manifests, and signed Proof of Deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols during loading, unloading, and driving operations to ensure personal safety and that of others.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with 5-ton trucks (minimum 3 years experience mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of Ottawa area and navigation for efficient deliveries.
- Experience with freight handling including load & unload procedures using forklifts or other equipment.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with MTO regulations.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight and perform vehicle inspections regularly. This position is ideal for drivers seeking a professional role in logistics that emphasizes safety, reliability, and versatility in truck operation across diverse delivery scenarios.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
