Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our dedicated finance team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Senior Property Accountant is responsible for core property accounting functions for a portfolio of multi-family, retail, and industrial properties, with additional responsibility for supporting portfolio-level financial review and coordination. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, variance analysis, and coordination with property managers, auditors, and other third parties.

Duties

  • Review and analyze monthly property-level financial statements and supporting schedules prepared by property accountants. Perform detailed budget-to-actual and period-over-period variance analysis. Review general ledger activity, accruals, and account classifications. Work with property accountants to resolve accounting questions, discrepancies, and unusual items. Support preparation of internal monthly financial summaries and commentary for senior management.
  • Review annual property operating budgets prepared by property managers. Analyze variances versus prior year and current year projections. Assist in identifying trends, risks, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Coordinate annual property-level financial statement audits with third-party accountants. Support company income tax filings by providing schedules and responding to auditor and tax advisor inquiring. Track audit and tax deadlines and ensure timely completion.

  • Coordinate property tax assessments and appeals with third-party consultants. Track property tax payments and related documentation.
  • Support annual insurance renewals by reviewing Total Insured Values (TIV). Assist with preparation of property-level insurance premium allocations. Coordinate insurance claims documentation with brokers and property managers.
  • Support preparation and tracking of quarterly and annual surplus cash distributions. Maintain documentation and approval support related to distributions.
  • Maintain entity-level accounting records and supporting documentation. Assist with annual filings, franchise taxes, and corporate record keeping. Coordinate with CSC Global on entity compliance matters.
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting and reporting projects as required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of property accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent designation is an asset.
  • Experience with multi-family real estate; retail or industrial experience is an asset. Strong understanding of property-level financial statements, general ledger activity, and operating budgets.
  • Proficiency with Yardi Voyager, RealPage or similar property accounting systems. Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
