As the organization continues to professionalize and scale, we are seeking a strong Senior Accountant to play a central role in month-end close, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and ERP integrity. This role is hands-on, operational, and highly visible, working closely with the CFO and cross-functional stakeholders.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for owning key accounting processes, supporting financial reporting accuracy, and maintaining strong internal controls across the organization. This role requires experience in inventory-driven businesses and comfort operating within an ERP environment. The successful candidate will act as a finance partner to operations and supply chain while ensuring disciplined accounting execution.

This role is well-suited for a high-performing accountant looking to deepen operational exposure, and strengthen leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Maintain accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support preparation of internal financial statements and reporting packages
  • Perform variance and margin analysis with clear explanations

Inventory, Costing & Operations Accounting

  • Manage inventory accounting, including receipts, adjustments, and reconciliations
  • Support landed cost allocation and gross margin accuracy
  • Assist in monitoring inventory reserves, excess, and obsolete stock
  • Partner with operations on SKU-level profitability and production economics
  • Support physical inventory counts and cycle count processes

ERP & Systems

  • Maintain accounting integrity within the ERP system (Epicor experience a strong asset)
  • Ensure accurate GL coding, cost structure, and data integrity
  • Support system improvements, reporting enhancements, and documentation
  • Assist in refining workflows across purchasing, inventory, and finance

Compliance, Audit & Tax Support

  • Prepare HST working papers and support timely remittances
  • Maintain organized documentation for audit and year-end review
  • Support external advisors and auditors as required
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls

Cash Flow & Working Capital Support

  • Support AR and AP oversight, including reconciliation and aging analysis
  • Assist with cash flow tracking and forecasting support
  • Monitor key working capital metrics and flag risks proactively

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with the CFO and broader finance team
  • Provide guidance and review work of junior accounting staff or bookkeepers
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain
  • Support special projects, process improvements, and growth initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, consumer goods, or inventory-based businesses strongly preferred
  • ERP experience required (Epicor or similar)
  • Excel skills and strong reconciliation discipline
