What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a seasoned security architect leader to provide expertise in the unique security challenges and risks associated with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). This role also collaborates with AI Application Developers, AI Security Vendors and ML/AI/DevOps teams to review designs and integrate security from the earliest stages of model and GenAI development.

Your work will directly shape the security posture of RBC's AI ecosystem, ensuring our AI applications and platforms meet regulatory requirements and mitigate emerging threats. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence, as you'll collaborate with engineering, governance, and architects to deliver security at scale.

What will you do?

  • GenAI specific security design reviews, conducting security assessments for various products, identifying emerging security trends, and collaborating with other security teams.

  • Evaluate the impact of current security threats, advisories, publications, and academic research to the organization. Identify plans of action and coordinate as necessary across teams to mitigate risk.

  • Build Strong partnerships and collaboration with MLOps and DevOps Engineering teams to define and integrate security controls.

  • Lead the technical evaluation and integration of emerging security technologies.

  • Create proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate security architectures and influence engineering teams through hands-on leadership.

  • Mentor engineers on secure architecture principles and contribute to RBC's AI security initiatives.

  • Contribute to product strategy, planning, design and operations.

What do you need to succeed? Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 7+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, infrastructure, security, data & analytics) experience.

  • Experience with security assessments, security design reviews or threat modeling, and developing cybersecurity solutions across multiple security domains.

  • Breadth of applied knowledge across application and infrastructure/cloud security.

  • Expert understanding of software development methodologies and concepts.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, motivational skills in achieving business objectives.
     

Nice-to-Have:

  • Certifications in security architecture (e.g., CISSP, CISM) or related fields.

  • Experience securing agent-based AI systems and/or ML Pipelines.

  • Stay up to date with new and evolving AI security threats and mechanisms for defending against those threats.

  • Deep understanding on how to balance business and technical risks.

  • Experience harmonizing disparate opinions while effectively prioritizing risks to guide application and platform partners towards secure solutions.

  • Understanding of security control frameworks (e.g. NIST 800, CSA, CIS), regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS) and risk management frameworks.

  • Knowledge of financial services security regulations.
