The Youth and Community Liaison – Employment and Entrepreneurship plays a key role in advancing supportive, culturally grounded employment and entrepreneurship pathways for Indigenous youth. This position connects youth, communities, and strategic partners to support Indigenous youth participation and success in employment and entrepreneurship.

Youth and Community Liaison – Employment and Entrepreneurship

Are you passionate about empowering Indigenous youth and strengthening community connections? Ulnooweg is looking for a Liaison who will lead youth engagement activities, foster strong community relationships, and ensure youth and community voices are meaningfully integrated into planning and initiatives.


Key responsibilities include

  • Co-developing and co-leading a Youth Advisory Council.
  • Facilitating dialogue with youth and communities.
  • Translating insights into actionable recommendations for strategic planning.
  • Supporting collaborative initiatives that promote student success and systemic change.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Lived experience and/or deep understanding of challenges Indigenous youth face in employment and entrepreneurship
  • Experience in youth and Indigenous community engagement, facilitation, and partnership development
  • Experience in economic development or entrepreneurship is considered an asset

Cultural and Contextual Knowledge

  • Awareness of Indigenous communities and cultures in Atlantic Canada
  • Familiarity with Indigenous organizational ecosystems supporting youth and community development
  • Knowledge of Indigenous traditions and ways of knowing related to employment and entrepreneurship

Facilitation and Coordination

  • Experience facilitating group discussions and gatherings
  • Ability to synthesize feedback and engagement data into actionable insights

Communication & Relationship Building 

  • Strong relationship‑building and communication skills with youth, Elders, families, and partners
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Project & Time Management

  • Self‑motivated, organized, able to manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible and adaptable to evolving needs

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to work in cloud-based environments

Candidates should also demonstrate competencies such as adaptability, communication, relationship building, critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and teamwork.

Conditions of Employment

  • Remote work based in Atlantic Canada
  • Regular travel across Atlantic provinces (approx. 50%)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to use a computer and peripherals
  • Overtime as required; willingness to work evenings or weekends
  • Vulnerable sector / criminal record check

Duration
Full‑time, 5‑year term position

This is a full time position that follows usual business hours (Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm AST) with some flexibility outside of these hours based on operational need.
