Position: Quality Assurance Specialist (Overnight)

Schedule: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Location: Fraserwood

The primary function of the Quality Assurance Specialist (Overnight) is to support and uphold Fine Choice Foods' Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs during the facility sanitation process. This position plays a key role in verifying that all sanitation, pre-operational, and production practices meet regulatory, SQF, and company standards. The Quality Assurance Specialist reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and works closely with Sanitation, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure consistent implementation of food safety and quality programs.

Summ Responsibilities:

  • Ensure food safety practices and all applicable requirements of the SQF Program are implemented, maintained, and continuously improved.
  • Perform GMP and sanitation audits to identify compliance and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development, review, and editing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections following sanitation cycles to verify hygiene and readiness for production.
  • Participate in environmental swab audits, including site determination and aseptic sample collection.
  • Collect and submit product samples to accredited third-party laboratories; compile, summarize, and trend laboratory results.
  • Provide food safety and quality program training to employees and contractors as needed.
  • Collaborate with Sanitation, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide support to the second facility when needed.
  • Follow all Company policies, including WorkSafeBC safety standards and Fine Choice Foods' internal safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Summ Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related QA experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles, Food Safety Programs, and Quality Assurance practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective in cross-departmental coordination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of CFIA and FDA regulations, and auditing experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

8 hours per shift, 5 days per week.
