Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented part time Optometric Assistant or Optician to join our busy eye care practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by managing patient interactions, assisting with examinations, and ensuring smooth office operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, especially those with a passion for patient care and optical services. Prior experience in medical offices or optical environments is preferred but not required. The position involves working in a fast-paced setting where professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail are essential.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in procedures at the front desk
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking medical histories and updating electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic
  • Educate patients on optical products and assist with retail sales of glasses and contact lenses
  • Manage appointment scheduling and follow-up communications with patients
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and clinical notes in EMR systems
  • Support administrative tasks including insurance verification and billing processes
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the exam rooms and optical displays

Skills

  • Previous experience in a medical office environment is highly desirable
  • Experience with optical products, retail sales, or sales techniques is advantageous
  • Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor
  • Ability to handle front desk responsibilities efficiently while multitasking in a busy environment
  • Knowledge of pediatric patient care is beneficial for working with children during exams
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and vendors
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technology or procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.85-$29.00 per hour
