Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients and complete mise en place to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Execute cooking techniques and prepare dishes according to State & Main's recipes and standards.
- Time the steps in each dish and understand the cooking requirements to ensure precise execution and consistency.
- Be knowledgeable about menu items, menu changes, and food preparation procedures to guarantee a remarkably consistent guest experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including proper storage and handling of food items.
- Monitor and manage food quality, presentation, and portion control to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and service.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Support the Kitchen Manager and Sous Chefs with daily tasks, including prep work, cooking, and clean-up.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a prep or line cook in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on contributing to a positive kitchen environment.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality.
- Passion for the culinary arts and a desire to grow within the organization.
