Reporting to the Dean, Trades and Technology; the Chair, Industry Training is responsible for the planning, direction, management, program delivery, administration and evaluation of all industry training programs across Nunavut. These include all Trades, such as Operators, Technicians, Culinary Arts, etc. in addition to industry training related trades occupations.

The Chair will have a strategic focus on building new partnerships with industry sectors (i.e. mining) and be able to lead the coordination of community-based courses and programs.

The Chair works with industry organizations and businesses to address their training needs and determines the level of support that is required by NAC. These contract engagements can be from short to long-term depending on the training and accreditation required.

Typically, the incumbent will have a University Degree and/or a professional designation in a Trade or Technology related field. A Master's Degree in a field related to trades or technology is preferred. With a minimum 3 years in the following areas of education programming for adult learners; knowledge of program development and program evaluation methods; minimum of 2 years direct experience managing staff (faculty) evaluation and performance management; experience in preparing and managing a large budget. Professional Teaching Credentials would be a definite asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position. We encourage you to apply if you have equivalent years of education and/or experience equal to the education and experience requirements listed above.

As this is a term position for non-Inuit candidates, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
