Reporting to the Chair, Community Programs, the Manager, Community Programs is responsible for supervising the community adult educators, instructors, and managing all aspects of educational programming in the Community Learning Centres (CLC) in the region. The successful candidate will manage all contract and base funded programming offered in the CLCs through Community and Distance Learning Division, which may include academic, literacy, trades, as well as certificate and diploma programs. They will work with funding sources and strategic partners, adult educators, instructors, and educational technology to meet the educational and training needs of adult learners who reside in the region's communities.
Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include
- Acting as a resource on courses/programs within the division, in the college overall and in other related institutions;
- Conducting and facilitating meetings to identify educational and training interests and needs of individuals and groups;
- Planning and developing courses and programs; and
- Advising on budgets, course/program selections, professional needs of adult educators, NAC policies and procedures, and learners changing needs for employment and access to continuing education.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through successful completion of a BED (with adult education concentration) or a BA in Educational Administration specializing in post-secondary combined with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the field of community-based education and a minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role, involving supervising staff and program development.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
