Senior Finance Manager, Major Projects

Location - Toronto

Contract Duration - 18 months, Hybrid

We're looking for a highly skilled
Senior Finance Manager
to oversee the financial operations of major, ministry-funded projects for a large, multi-site hospital network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical trail programs/healthcare/clinical/hospital finance and a passion for supporting large-scale clinical initiatives that will shape the future of patient care.

About the Role

As the Senior Finance Manager, you'll be a key financial partner for clinical and project teams, guiding them through the complex financial aspects of expansion projects. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of operating budgets and post-construction operating plans for new hospital towers and other ministry-funded projects.
  • Serving as a financial business partner to clinical co-sponsors, providing expert advice and support on project spending and strategic decisions.
  • Coordinating with various departments, including case costing and decision support, to gather the necessary data for financial submissions.
  • Performing financial and costing analysis for major projects, providing data-driven recommendations to ensure optimal financial outcomes.
  • Managing monthly reporting and tracking of transition costs to ensure projects stay on budget.
  • Supporting the development of business cases and financial models for new initiatives.
  • Providing training and education on financial best practices to staff and key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation is required.
  • 5-8 years of progressive finance experience, with a strong preference for experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability to manage and perform financial analysis for complex, multi-million dollar projects.
  • Experience with organizational change and implementing new processes.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • Excellent technical skills in Excel and various financial systems.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Hospital MIS Guidelines and experience with clinical trial programs is a must.
  • Highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy are essential.
