The Client:

A leading Canadian financial technology organization undergoing rapid scaling. They manage billions in client assets and are known for building user-centric, tech-driven investment and trading platforms. The environment is fast-moving, collaborative, and innovation-focused, with strong emphasis on regulatory discipline and operational excellence. This role sits within their brokerage finance function and partners closely with senior leadership across product, engineering, operations, and compliance.

What you will achieve in this role:

  • Act as the bridge between finance, engineering, and operations to ensure the brokerage's financial systems and controls meet regulatory expectations.
  • Shape and communicate the accounting and recordkeeping requirements that underpin the company's brokerage ledger and financial infrastructure.
  • Contribute strategically to new product launches by ensuring regulatory, accounting, and reporting considerations are embedded from early design through deployment.
  • Oversee the preparation, review and submission of all mandated filings to Canadian regulatory bodies, particularly CIRO and provincial commissions.
  • Participate in month-end close activities and support leadership with reviews, sign-offs, and accuracy of brokerage financials.
  • Help drive the development of scalable, compliant systems and processes that support continuous growth and product evolution.

What you must bring to this role:

  • Genuine interest in innovative financial technology, digital finance, and emerging tools such as AI.
  • Comfort operating in fast-paced, less-defined environments where building frameworks from scratch is common.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in brokerage or investment-dealer finance.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Hands-on exposure to brokerage accounting systems (e.g., Dataphile, Broadridge, ISM, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian regulatory standards, especially CIRO requirements.
  • Solid understanding of various financial products and instruments.
  • Proven ability to work with a broad range of internal partners and translate complex regulatory concepts into operational steps.
  • Demonstrated leadership on cross-functional initiatives with high visibility.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and communication skills.
  • Bonus assets: Completion of the CFO qualifying exam and/or the Canadian Securities Course.
