This role is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and supporting the execution of overhead and underground construction, connection, and maintenance projects. The Contractor ensures strict safety compliance, manages schedules, maintains high quality standards, and provides guidance to field crews and subcontractors. The position requires strong technical expertise in powerline construction, hands-on site supervision experience, and the ability to drive operational excellence across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work meets legislative and internal safety requirements.
Lead safety meetings, site inspections, and incident reviews; recommend corrective actions.
Identify and mitigate hazardous conditions and enforce safe-work practices.
Project & Construction Management
- Plan and schedule overhead and underground construction and maintenance activities.
Coordinate emergency repairs and restoration efforts.
Track project progress and ensure milestones are met.
Interpret drawings, prints, and designs to support field execution.
Support design teams with field insights, unit interpretations, and mentorship.
Maintain positive relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Quality Assurance & Field Inspection
- Inspect work quality, materials, and safety practices to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Document deficiencies and ensure timely resolution.
Validate project completion packages, including as-builts and material returns.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with design teams during planning and construction; provide technical guidance.
- Support customer satisfaction and protect organizational reputation during field interactions.
Required Qualifications:
- Red Seal Power Line Technician.
Supervisory experience in a utility or similar field environment.
Strong understanding of distribution systems (e.g., 4kV-27kV).
Knowledge of Utility Work Protection Code (UWPC).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Occupational Health & Safety certification.
Valid driver's licence.
