Quality Specialist

The Quality Specialist position is primarily focused on performing analytical and microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications. The role involves accurate documentation of results, effective communication across departments, and active participation in maintaining quality standards. Detailed in documentation abilities proficient with computer systems Ability to work independently and prioritize workload as needed.
The following are essential job functions.
Quality Control
Perform routine testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods according to established methods
Conduct and document microbiological assays (e.g., plate counts, contamination checks, etc.).
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
Interpret and record test results accurately; investigate out-of-spec results.
Maintain the retain samples in accordance with company policy.
Perform stability testing as needed to support product shelf-life and quality
Support product release by ensuring all testing meets specifications.
Quality Assurance
Support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO-based Quality Management System (QMS).
Assist in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO, customer, regulatory).
Help manage CAPAs and non-conformances, including conducting root cause analysis for performance issues.
Communicate effectively with production, R&D, and management teams to resolve quality issues
Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining SOPs and quality documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement by analyzing recurring issues and proposing preventive solutions.
Participate in product validation, scale-up, and pilot production trials, providing technical feedback and quality input.
Support risk assessments and contribute to risk analysis activities related to product quality, processes, and regulatory compliance.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant ISO 9001 standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop, review, and maintain product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with GHS, WHMIS, REACH, and other applicable regulations.
Support communication and coordination with regulatory bodies, customers, and suppliers regarding quality-related matters
Stay updated on regulatory and industry best practices affecting quality and compliance.
Support product registration and customer documentation needs (e.g.: Manufacturer's declaration, Flow Charts, etc.)
Secondary job accountabilities
· Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education: DEC or Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field.
Minimum Experience: 2–3 years of quality control experience, preferably in microbiology, biotechnology, in an industrial environment. Hands-on experience CFU quantification, and plate counting. Familiarity with Bacillus strains, bacterial and fungal cultures, and industrial applications is a plus.
Relevant experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE Le poste de Spécialiste Qualité est principalement axé sur l'exécution de diverses procédures d'essais.
Le titulaire du poste aide à assurer le flux d'information concernant les résultats d'analyses et les spécifications des matières premières et des produits finis. Il/elle effectue diverses autres tâches nécessaires au contrôle de la qualité des matières premières et des produits finis. Il/elle démontre des compétences détaillées en documentation, est capable d'apprendre rapidement, de naviguer dans les systèmes informatiques, et de les utiliser efficacement. Il/elle peut travailler de façon autonome et sait prioriser sa charge de travail.
Contrôle de la qualité
Effectuer des tests de routine sur les matières premières, les échantillons en cours de production et les produits finis selon des méthodes établies.
Réaliser et documenter les essais microbiologiques (ex. : dénombrements sur gélose, vérification de contamination, etc.).
Opérer, calibrer et entretenir l'équipement de laboratoire.
Interpréter et consigner avec précision les résultats des essais ; enquêter sur les résultats hors spécifications.
Gérer les échantillons de rétention conformément aux politiques de l'entreprise.
Réaliser les essais de stabilité pour soutenir l'évaluation de la durée de vie des produits.
Supporter la libération des produits en s'assurant que tous les tests respectent les spécifications établies.
Assurance qualité
Appuyer la mise en œuvre et le maintien du Système de Gestion de la Qualité (SGQ) basé sur la norme ISO.
Participer aux audits internes et externes (ISO, clients, réglementaires).
Contribuer à la gestion des CAPA (actions correctives et préventives) et des non-conformités, y compris mener des analyses des causes profondes.
Communiquer efficacement avec les équipes de production, de R&D et de gestion pour résoudre les problèmes de qualité.
Aider à la rédaction, la mise à jour et au maintien des procédures opératoires normalisées (PON) et de la documentation qualité.
Participer à l'amélioration continue en analysant les problématiques récurrentes et en proposant des solutions préventives.
Participer à la validation de produits, à la montée en échelle et aux essais pilotes, en fournissant une rétroaction technique.
Appuyer les évaluations de risques et contribuer aux activités d'analyse des risques liées à la qualité des produits, aux procédés et à la conformité réglementaire.
Conformité
Veiller au respect des normes ISO 9001 et des exigences réglementaires applicables.
Développer, réviser et maintenir les étiquettes de produits et les Fiches de Données de Sécurité (FDS) conformément aux règlements GHS, SIMDUT, REACH, et autres.
Soutenir la communication et la coordination avec les organismes de réglementation, les clients et les fournisseurs sur les questions liées à la qualité.
Se tenir informé des meilleures pratiques et des évolutions réglementaires affectant la qualité et la conformité.
Supporter l'enregistrement de produits et les besoins documentaires des clients (ex.: déclaration du fabricant, organigrammes, etc.)
Responsabilités secondaires
· Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe assignée.
Prérequis
Formation minimale : Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) ou baccalauréat (ou équivalent) en microbiologie, biotechnologie, sciences de l'environnement, chimie, ou domaine connexe.
Expérience minimale : 2 à 3 ans d'expérience en contrôle de la qualité, de préférence en microbiologie, biotechnologie ou en environnement industriel. Expérience pratique du dénombrement des UFC et des tests sur gélose. La connaissance des souches de Bacillus, des cultures bactériennes et fongiques et de leurs applications industrielles est un atout.
Expérience pertinente ou toute combinaison équivalente de formation, d'éducation et d'expérience. Maîtrise de la Suite Microsoft Office.
