About the role

Hacksmith Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to support our growing finance and operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, managing accounts payable, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations across manufacturing, ecommerce, and content production activities.

The ideal candidate is organized, methodical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where accuracy and accountability matter.

What You'll Do
  • Core Bookkeeping
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records
    • Record and reconcile daily financial transactions
    • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
    • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
    • Maintain organized financial documentation and audit trails
    • Assist with HST/GST filings and remittances
    • Support year-end processes
  • Payroll
    • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for salaried and hourly employees (Rippling)
    • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations
    • Manage payroll deductions, benefits, and remittances
    • Maintain payroll records and respond to employee payroll inquiries
    • Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs) as required
  • Accounts Payable
    • Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals
    • Schedule and execute vendor payments in accordance with payment terms
    • Maintain vendor records and resolve billing discrepancies
    • Monitor cash requirements related to payables
    • Support purchase order and expense tracking processes
  • Other duties as assigned the specific responsibilities and job functions of the role
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting support roles
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll and HST/GST requirements
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency with Excel / Google Sheets
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Experience in manufacturing, ecommerce, or inventory-based businesses
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-currency environments

You must be legally allowed to work in Canada and be local or willing to relocate. This role is based in Cambridge, Ontario and telecommuting is not an option. 

Salary Range: $50-65k plus benefits.
