Job Details

About Kids Can Fly

Kids Can Fly is a registered charity operating in Brantford and the County of Brant. Our community work is devoted to the wellbeing of children by supporting them through engaging programming and events, as well as by supporting their parents or caregivers. We operate seven different programs and initiatives.

Job Description Overview

The Administrative Assistant position with Kids Can Fly supports the ongoing needs of the organization through record keeping, donor communications, and ongoing organizational sustainability efforts. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Executive Director, and will work in tandem with Kids Can Fly volunteers and board members.

Responsibilities

This candidate will work closely with the Executive Director to further the work of Kids Can Fly through communication with the community in a variety of ways, as well as providing support for fundraising and outreach. The position also includes data management and a variety of general administrative tasks. This includes, but is not limited to:

·      Regularly completing basic changes and updates to the website (training provided)

·      Providing administrative support for fundraisers and outreach events

·      Creating charitable tax receipts for incoming donations

·      Writing and sending thank you notes to volunteers and donors

·      Completing proofreading and graphic design for various promotional materials

·      Providing administrative support to various programs as needed

·      Completing general administrative duties as required

Qualifications

·      OSSD required, some college or university preferred

·      Administration experience required

·      Strong technological competency

·      Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a bigger team

·      Excellent time management skills

·      Strong writing ability, including spelling and grammar

·      Ability to quickly and efficiently learn and utilize various software programs

·      Strong communication skills

·      Resident of Brantford or County of Brant

·      Access to a vehicle with a valid driver's license

Working Terms

·      The Administrative Assistant will work from a home office. Kids Can Fly will provide a laptop computer, printer, two-drawer filing cabinet, and consumables.

·      The position is paid monthly by cheque upon the receipt of an invoice.

·      Specific work hours will be negotiated with the Executive Director and can be flexible, however, 75% must take place within regular business hours.

·      Periodically, the Administrative Assistant may be expected to attend an event or meeting outside of regular business hours.

·      Monthly time sheets must be kept noting the tasks and amount of time spent and which program to be invoiced. All receipts must be should be submitted with the monthly invoice.

·      The two parties will negotiate reasonable amounts of time for vacations with the goal of not interrupting the pressing needs of Kids Can Fly operations.
