Our client is a leading healthcare provider in Ontario, operating one of the province's most extensive networks of accredited diagnostic and clinical locations. Recognized among Canada's Best Managed Companies, a Great Place to Work, a Consumer Choice Award recipient, and one of Canada's Top Growing Companies, they continue to set benchmarks in quality, innovation, and employee experience.

They are currently seeking an IT Application Specialist with strong foundational IT skills and basic healthcare systems exposure. Candidates with experience in EMR, RIS/PACS, healthcare modalities, and clinical workflows are preferred — however, the organization is open to training individuals who have solid IT fundamentals and a basic understanding of healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Application Maintenance (Primary Focus)

  • Provide frontline IT support for clinical and administrative staff across multiple clinic locations.
  • Support and maintain healthcare applications such as EMR/EHR, RIS/PACS, Velox, Ocean, and other diagnostic systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, scanners, printers, and diagnostic equipment connectivity.
  • Apply operating system updates, security patches, and configuration changes.
  • Monitor application and system performance, proactively addressing issues and escalating as needed.
  • Assist with integration of new diagnostic equipment into existing IT/network environments.

User Support & Training

  • Provide one-on-one and group training to physicians, clinicians, technicians, and admin staff on IT systems.
  • Help create user guides, support documents, and training materials.
  • Offer ongoing refresher training to ensure optimal system utilization.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with clinic managers, technicians, physicians, and administrative teams to understand day-to-day operational needs.
  • Coordinate with IT infrastructure teams, vendors, and project managers to resolve issues and deliver solutions.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between clinical users and technical teams.

Compliance, Documentation & Quality

  • Maintain documentation for system setups, user configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure IT operations comply with privacy/security requirements such as PHIPA and HIPAA.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives through monitoring application usage and identifying efficiency opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Medical Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Exposure to EMR/EHR, RIS/PACS, or diagnostic imaging systems is an asset (training will be provided for the right candidate).

Experience

  • 2–5 years of IT support, helpdesk, or application support experience.
  • Experience or basic understanding of healthcare systems, clinical workflows, EMR/EHR, or imaging systems preferred.
  • Experience participating in IT or application projects (implementations, upgrades, or system rollouts) is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to support clinical end users with varying technical skill levels.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently across multiple clinic locations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data privacy, security, and compliance standards.

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel extensively to clinics within Toronto and surrounding regions.
  • Hybrid role — not remote. Regular onsite presence is mandatory.
