Responsibilities:

  • Timely preparation of financial statements and reporting documents
  • Direct and plan the maintenance of fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position (including income, expenses, and earnings) based on past, present, and expected operations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Prepare working papers for external accountants
  • Responsible for CRA reporting requirements
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts, accrual estimates, and year-end adjustments with appropriate cutoff procedures
  • Prepare and review budgets, revenue and expense reports, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents
  • Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and processes related to development and corporate accounting, tax, and cash management
  • Manage the execution and delivery of all internal and external reporting
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operational results against forecasts/budgets, cash flow, and other cost-benefit analyses
  • Prepare reports requested by ownership for development projects and equity requirements
  • Maintain and track financial metrics for reporting purposes
  • Post complex transactions and reconcile accounts with strong analytical skills
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and oversee junior staff to maintain standards
  • Prepare cash flow reports and provide financial data to ownership
  • Provide leadership and daily oversight of payroll, accounting, WIP, and costing functions
  • Offer strategic direction in all aspects of accounting operations
  • Ensure business risks are identified and communicated appropriately
  • Prepare and remit GST, GST self-assessments, and other legislated taxes
  • Respond to CRA audits and inquiries effectively with strong communication skills
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and manage risks

Requirements:

  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in public practice with a completed CPA designation
  • Solid experience with full-cycle accounting and reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition
  • 2+ years of QuickBooks experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading, mentoring, training, and coaching teams
  • Strong corporate accounting and tax background within a real estate environment
  • Proven aptitude for financial systems
  • Demonstrated ability to implement change management, systems, and process improvements
  • Direct experience in real estate with a developer or income-producing property owner
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-entity environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
