We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Operations Manager in our Kingsville distribution centre.
The Operations Manager, under the direction of the Director of North American Operations, is a people-focused leader who will primarily be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the ongoing operations of the Distribution Centre. This includes overseeing day-to-day activities within the Distribution Centre, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources, and maintaining operational workflows that align with company objectives and customer requirements.

Main Responsibilities
- Implements policies, procedures, and organizational structure for the Kingsville Distribution Centre.
- Assists in the development of short-term and long-term operational goals that fit within the overall corporate objectives.
- Directs, coordinates, and collaborates with all departments concerned with production, distribution and quality assurance of all products and materials.
- Assists in the development of an annual budget, tracks expenses against the budget, and manages operations within budget in compliance with company financial and expenditure policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Operations Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises all assigned work within the DC, with a focus on minimizing operational costs.
- Develop and manage staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, balancing workload distribution and optimizing productivity.
- Manage building maintenance operations, ensuring all systems and infrastructure are functioning effectively, and coordinate timely repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Monitors the work of supervisors, provides coaching, development, training, and discipline as needed.
- Understands the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety (Primus GFS, SQF or others), sanitation, HACCP, Company policies and procedures, ensures operations functions in compliance.
- Collaborate with HR to develop and maintain a talent pipeline, ensuring the organization is staffed with skilled and motivated personnel to meet operational demands.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
- 7+ years leadership experience, preferably within the produce industry.
- Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Health and Safety laws, Food Safety, HACCP and SQF Systems.
- Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management, including implementing best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a collaborative management style.
- Strong leadership skills, with a focus on operations, managing employees, projects, and business processes.
- Demonstrates the ability to approach situations with an open mind and consider diverse perspectives.
- Knowledge of produce storage, handling, and repacking practices.
- Knowledge of produce grades and packaging regulations.
- Cold and noisy work environment.
- Extended periods of sitting/standing.
- Monday through Saturday.
- Overtime may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
- Travel 5% of time.
- Occasionally lift/push weight of 25-50 pounds.
