Position Overview

Mi'kmaw Cultural Foundation Inc. is seeking a dynamic and organized Event Coordinator to support cultural events, youth programs, land-based gatherings, and community engagement activities across Ktaqmkuk. This employment opportunity is offered through the AMPLIFY Program, supporting youth facing barriers to employment in developing practical skills and professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

● Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of events, and workshops

● Organize event logistics, venues, travel, schedules, registration, and communications

● Support Elders, knowledge keepers, artists, youth, and community partners

● Create event materials such as agendas, posters, social media content, and participant resources

● Assist with budgeting, record-keeping, and documentation of program activities

● Provide on-site event support, including set-up and tear-down

● Ensure events follow appropriate cultural protocols and community values

Qualifications

● Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Ability to work collaboratively with community members and partners

● Creativity and problem-solving abilities

● Experience in event planning, community programming, or youth engagement is an asset

● Knowledge of Mi'kmaw culture, traditions, and community priorities is considered an asset

● Ability to work some evenings or weekends, as required by event schedules

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 weeks

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
