Toronto, ON- Primarily remote; onsite as needed (1-2 days). May include time in-store or at vendor facilities.

Compensation:
$55-$60/Hour

Hours:
40 hours/week

Duration:
6-month contract (potential for extension or conversion)

About the Role:

  • We are looking for an experienced Project Manager, Hardware to support retail hardware initiatives, and work as an independent PM who can manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal support.
  • The role blends traditional waterfall project management with some agile exposure and has a strong focus on hardware, vendor coordination, and operational execution.
  • This position will support large-scale retail initiatives, including hardware discovery, proof-of-concepts (POCs), vendor engagements, and new POS hardware rollouts.

Project Management & Delivery:

  • Own and maintain detailed project plans across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Manage end-to-end project execution without a project coordinator
  • Handle significant administrative responsibilities, including documentation, tracking, and reporting
  • Focus on both execution and big-picture project outputs

Hardware & Retail Initiatives:

  • Project manage hardware installations such as physically mounting cameras in retail bays
  • Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and deployment of hardware with vendors
  • Support AI-driven detection initiatives by managing hardware setup and transfer into AI models
  • Assess project success and outcomes post-implementation

Vendor Management & Procurement:

  • Lead vendor RFPs and procurement scheduling
  • Navigate vendor availability and resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Support vendor negotiations and decision-making when vendors are not aligned to schedules

POS Hardware Rollout:

  • Support the rollout of new POS hardware
  • Coordinate ordering and deployment of pin pads
  • Ensure hardware upgrades meet network compatibility requirements

Methodology:

  • Operate in an environment that is approximately 80% waterfall and 20% agile
  • Apply agile principles where appropriate (not managing a scrum team)
  • Collaborate effectively with software-focused teams, with some exposure to software projects

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on project management experience
  • Experience working in both waterfall and agile environments (not solely Scrum
  • Retail experience with an understanding of the end-user experience
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Excellent communication skills; clear, articulate, and professional
  • Comfortable reporting project status, risks, and progress
  • Exposure to both hardware and software-related projects
