Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our accounting team at our CPA firm. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining financial records of clients and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in excel. Experience in accounting/tax software (QuickBooks/Taxprep) is an asset. College or university education in accounting or bookkeeping preferred.

Duties

  • Bookkeeping, analysis, review of client books and records
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly journal entries. Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded for clients.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card accounts, and other general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and file tax returns-T1s and T2s

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of Canadian tax and accounting principles
  • Familiarity in accounting and tax software-QuickBooks, TaxPrep etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills for account analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders. This Junior Accountant position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development within a growing company.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
