Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are strictly followed.

Duties

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and creativity, adhering to traditional techniques and recipes.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for ordering supplies to management.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests when necessary, offering recommendations, and ensuring satisfaction with their dining experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve skills in sushi making and food presentation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food handling practices.
  • Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, rice preparation, and traditional Japanese ingredients.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous restaurant experience is preferred; kitchen experience is essential.
