The Youth Governance Coordinator Reports to the Policy Director. This position supports youth engagement in Haida Nation Governance
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Look for and secure additional funding for the Youth Governance Department and Haida Gwaii Youth Assembly.
  • Organize and coordinate the Annual Haida Gwaii Youth Assembly (HGYA).
  • Network with youth organizations and groups to promote Haida Gwaii Youth Governance.
  • Support the elected Haida Gwaii Youth Council and HGYA planning committee.
  • Outreach work with youth aged 13-24 on Haida Gwaii.
  • Other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, grant proposal writing/reporting and public speaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including experience working collaboratively with individuals and groups in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and in particular Microsoft Word and Excel software and proficient with social media platforms.
  • Detail-oriented with a proven capacity for efficient and effective task management.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build relationships, work effectively in a team, and adapt to changing situations with creativity.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends and travel between the different communities of Haida Gwaii as required.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
  • Prior experience working with Youth on Haida Gwaii an asset.
