Import & Export / International Trade Specialist

We are a growing international trading company specializing in Japanese food, beverages, snacks, and household products for import to North America. Our business covers the entire supply chain—from supplier negotiation and product registration to logistics, customs clearance, and sales coordination with major retailers.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import & Export / International Trade Specialist to join our team.
The ideal candidate will manage daily trade documentation, coordinate with overseas suppliers and logistics partners, and ensure smooth order fulfillment and compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate purchase orders, shipping schedules, and export documentation (invoice, packing list, B/L, etc.)
- Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery
- Prepare and verify commercial and customs documents for export/import shipments
- Track and manage orders from production to final delivery
- Support label review and CFIA/FDA document preparation (for food and beverage items)
- Maintain product and shipment data in internal systems.
- Assist with trade fair participation, supplier communication, and cross-department coordination
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in import/export operations or logistics coordination
- Knowledge of INCOTERMS, shipping documentation, and customs procedures
- Strong communication skills in English (Japanese or Chinese is a plus)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficient in Google Workspace / Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CFIA / FDA food import documentation
- Understanding of HS Codes, labeling regulations, and customs clearance workflows
- Familiarity with Canada / U.S. import processes is a strong advantage
