After School Program Leaders – Visual Arts, specifically painting, drawing & crafting.

Part Time: 2-4 hours a week | Rate: Starting at $24.00/hr. Negotiable depending on experience. | Position begins January 2026.

Rise Arts Company is looking for After School Program Leaders to lead and deliver visual arts programs at various locations across the New Westminster area. Programs are hosted at specific school sites during after school hours and can vary by season. Applicants must be comfortable with planning and leading a variety of visual arts to ages 5-14 years old. Must be available a minimum of two days between Monday-Friday during after school hours between 2:15pm – 5:00pm. There will be opportunity for several shifts a week for the right candidate.

Qualifications:

  • Have a joy and passion working with children ages 5-14 years old
  • Must have experience lesson planning and leading a range of activities to children and/or youth
  • Must be comfortable working with and demonstrating various art mediums - painting, drawing & crafting
  • Must be comfortable lesson planning, charting, and filling out required paperwork throughout programming
  • Must be comfortable leading programs to groups up to 25 participants. Assistant instructors will also be present in larger classes. Instructors are expected to manage classes up to 15 individually.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with managers, co-workers, site staff, parents & children
  • Must be highly reliable, punctual, professional and responsible
  • Have the ability to create a safe and welcoming space for children and youth to explore their love for creativity
  • Must be comfortable dealing with various behaviours and challenges that may come up during program duration
  • Be a positive role model to all our students

Please note, we are looking for a candidate comfortable with various mediums of art, specifically working with clay/ceramics at a beginner level. Candidate must be available for a mandatory training the first week of January 2026.

Certifications/Licenses:

· Current first-aid certificate.

· Drivers license.

· Must complete and pass a Police Information Check working with the vulnerable sector.
