The Kitchen Helper plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting. This position involves assisting cooks and chefs with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting various kitchen tasks to enhance efficiency and uphold food safety standards. Duties

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and equipment.
  • Organize and store cleaned items properly to ensure easy access and safety.
  • Operate dishwashing machine, ensuring it is functioning correctly and performing routine maintenance.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, utensils, and pots in designated areas.
  • Assist in food preparation by chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes as directed by the cook or chef.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Help with cooking tasks as needed, ensuring that all food is prepared according to safety guidelines and recipes.
  • Organize and store food supplies efficiently to ensure easy access during meal preparation.
  • Support the kitchen staff during busy periods by helping with various tasks as required.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and kitchen operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of guests & employee restrooms, and other common areas.

Skills

  • Experience in food preparation or cooking is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
  • Knowledge of food handling practices and safety standards in a kitchen environment.
  • Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic workspace.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is a plus but not required.
