Salary for this position is commensurate with education and experience.

Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), the OHS Specialist works closely with the Manager, OHS and site management to advance the OHS and Workers' Compensation (WC) programs across the organization. In addition, the OHS Specialist develops OHS procedures and conducts training of employees in OHS processes.

Key responsibilities include managing safety software, conducting training, and leading incident investigations. The role also involves tracking safety metrics, overseeing contractor compliance, maintaining training records, and supporting WCB claim management. Additionally, the OHS Specialist supports audits, hazard assessments, and emergency response plans, while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications, Education, Experience

  • Graduate of a post-secondary program (minimum two (2) year program) in OHS, Disability Management, or Health and Safety Administration;
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional preferred- if designation/certification is not held, willing to work towards achieving one such designation/certification;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' recent and progressive OHS/disability management experience;
  • Experience using and managing electronic safety software;
  • Current valid driver's license and driver's abstract acceptable to the Employer;
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently, clearly, and efficiently.
