We're currently seeking a proactive and people-focused
Human Resource Advisor
to join our team as a key contributor to employee experience, talent processes, and operational HR excellence. This role partners closely with site managers and employees at a mine site in Ontario, providing thoughtful, responsive, and solutions-oriented HR support. You'll be the go-to resource for this mine site, helping to drive engagement, resolve issues, and improve processes that make work better for everyone.
This role requires
travel to the site for at least one week per month
to provide on-the ground support to leaders, employees, and project operations.
Key Responsibilities Employee & Manager Support
- Coach and support site management and supervisors with people-related challenges, promoting sound HR practices and constructive employee relations.
- Provide guidance on HR programs, including benefits, RRSP, EFAP, timekeeping systems (e.g., UKG), and company policies.
- Support managers and employees with the short-term disability (STD) and medical claims process through Canada Life.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support the recruitment of site personnel by partnering with the Recruitment Supervisor on job postings, resume pre-screening, interviews, and reference checks.
- Build a strong local talent network and maintain a presence within the community to support ongoing workforce needs.
Investigations & Employee Relations
- Support sensitive fact-finding or investigations, providing recommendations to ensure consistent disciplinary and termination decisions.
- Liaise with clients' HR teams when necessary (e.g., joint investigations, loss of site privileges impacting employment decisions).
HR Programs, Policies & Reporting
- Develop or enhance employee guidelines, policies, processes, and employee communications, ensuring alignment with centralized HR and standardized practices.
- Act as a liaison between the site and payroll teams regarding programs and process inquiries.
- Conduct employee exit interviews and report on trends to support continuous improvement.
- Provide regular workforce and resource reporting to support project operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in mining or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and labour relations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrating integrity through sound judgment, professional conduct, and absolute confidentiality.
- Experience working with a centralized HR team while supporting at a site/local level.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
