Junior Drafter

MatchBox Consulting is on the hunt for a Junior Drafter. This candidate will create and revise standard engineering drawings using computer-aided drafting tools to support engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.

Contract:
6 months

Responsibilities

• Create and revise standard CAD drawings across multiple engineering disciplines under guidance from senior team members.
• Produce associated graphs, maps, diagrams, and profiles in support of engineering designs.
• Perform basic calculations for dimensions, elevations, slopes, scales, quantities, clearances, and layouts.
• Review drawings against drafting and engineering standards and flag conflicts or potential errors.
• Organize, manage, and maintain drawings and drawing lifecycles using drawing management systems.
• Update GIS information using data from surveys, maps, aerial imagery, and engineered drawings; prepare GIS extracts as required.
• Apply drafting, engineering, and municipal/utility standards when interpreting and incorporating external information into drawings.
• Complete document control tasks, including drawing numbering, publishing, and updates.
• Perform data entry tasks such as cable schedules.
• Provide basic CAD support to engineers/designers and participate in working groups when required.

Must Haves

• Diploma in drafting or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of drafting experience or equivalent.
• Advanced computer-aided design and drafting skills.
• Experience creating and revising standard engineering CAD drawings.
• Ability to follow drafting and engineering standards and guidance from senior team members.

Nice to Haves

• Experience across multiple disciplines (civil/structural, electrical, mechanical, protection & control, telecom, or municipal).
• GIS editing and data update experience.
• Experience with drawing management systems and document control processes.
• Exposure to work management or asset configuration systems (e.g., McLaren, ACC).
